So you came... and tore things up...and ruined my weekend because we were busy prepping for the storm instead of out enjoying our time off!  OK. Enough venting.  I will say- I am hoping that everyone and everything in the Tri-State Area is fine.  I am spending my time waiting for the she-devil to rear her ugly head on my laptop, shopping, browsing, pinning...writing...wait- it actually doesn't sound much different than a usual day.  

Anyhoo- I saw a clever picture depicting Hurricane Sandy as Sandy from "Grease"...how she changed her look and got fiercer and fiercer.  I thought about what the 2012 version of Sandy would be like.  So- this post is inspired by her.   The Sandy we like- not the other one.  (boo.)

I am officially obsessed with the Rag & Bone Newbury Bootie.  Ever since I saw them gracing celeb feet I did my research and they all came back wearing the same style.  The Classic Newbury boot.  Now I've walked past the Rag & Bone store in the West Village hundreds of times- and while my interest was peaked, I never was beckoned to walk in.  Well now- they are all that I look for.  I've got my eye on these boots in particular- but with a $695.00 price tag- I am a little hesitant.  Especially since the style has a little bit of a western flare going on- but it just won me over.  So- I searched high and low for a similar style for less- kind of like a try on before you buy kind of thing.  If I love these- then I will go for the real deals- but for now- I am giving my look for less booties a trial run....I think they are pretty close though- what do you think?

Inspiration Shimmer: All things glitter, sequins and shine.  Maybe it's the sunshine, the new season, the fact that I feel better...I don't know.  But I am finding little ways to sneak it into my outfits and into my home.  Not trying to be the crazy glitter lady or anything.  Just trying to add a little extra sparkle in my life...

Even though the weather has been confused about what season it is- I am in Fall mode.  My allergies are ready and in need of the cooler temps.  Bring on the cold air, the salted caramel mochas and the boots.  I have resolved that Summer is over so moving on and moving forward.  It's time for skinny jeans, cute jackets and city walking boots.  (I'd just make sure to have a cute tee underneath for when you need to start de-layering)... But no matter what the temperature says- Fall is here.  Bring on the riding boots!

Sometimes what makes an outfit- or at the very least what drives an outfit to come together is the bag.  A statement bag is the best investment to make at the change of the season.  That's a no fail recipe for a great wardrobe - whether it be classic, exotic or edgy.  A bag to wear with jeans and a blazer, a bag to wear with the LBD (Little Black Dress) or the bag to go with your pencil skirt and button down blouse.  Your bag choice will affect how the rest of your look comes together.  Decide what you want to say...carefully....

So I wanted to spend what I thought to be the last 80 degree days walking the streets of beautiful New York City.  I started Friday downtown and made my way uptown on Saturday for a tour through The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The sun was shining, birds were chirping and citygoers were beings their typical fabulous selves.  First off, Chelsea and the Meatpacking District on Saturday.  I was amazed to see how much green I actually came across while walking along the Hudson River.  For a minute, you forgot where you were- staring out into the river, sea gulls floating and boats whizzing by.  But here in Chelsea, you can transport yourself to another place in your head.  What is not to love?  Chelsea Piers, Chelsea Market and don't forget the close proximity to other cool neighborhoods.   We had lunch at Serafina and the most delicious foccacia bread with mozzerella cheese and tomatoes.  There is something about Gansevoort Street that just makes me happy.  I don't know if it's the cobblestones, the cool shops- did I mention the huge DVF store???  The Highline just keeps getting better and better.  Too many other cool spots in Meatpacking to talk about- we will have to save those for another post!

Next up- Uptown.  What I love about 5th Avenue - is 5th Avenue.  Endless fabulous stores, Central Park and the dream of one day living there...Heaven on 5th.  The Met never ceases to please.  So much to learn and look at.  There was not enough time.  Mental note- must make more museum trips. 

We had the loveliest lunch at a little cafe Via Quadronno on 73rd Street.  I had my favorite salad- Insalata Braccio di Ferro (fresh baby leaf spinach, shaved artichoke hearts with Parmigiano).  The brownstones on these streets are dreamy.  Can you imagine living in a three story brownstone and your neighbor being the Ralph Lauren Home Store?  Yep.  Well someone does.

All in all- it was a wonderful weekend. I am actually still recovering from it today- nothing like trying to get over being sick and spending your weekend walking for miles.  But I am not complaining- I will take the setback...Because it was the perfect way to spend the last moments of Indian Summer...

The chill in the air is bringing on my desire to wrap myself up in luxe cozy fabrics, warm fuzzy sweaters and wraps.  I know there is still a chance for Indian Summer type days, in fact this weekend is looking pretty sunny and almost Spring like.  But before we know it, it will be hat and mittens time...so why not be prepared?  Like I always say...there a time and place to shop...all the time and every place!!!  (Ok maybe not every time and every place...but almost...) Hey a girl can try right?
