Jersey Shore Romance

I am in a serious relationship with New York City, but I had sort of a Summer fling with the Jersey Shore. Pier Village in Long Branch to be exact. Quaint, clean and buzzing with surfers, tanners and tourists. The shops range from Chocolates to bikinis and the restaurants - everything from Sushi to tacos. The perfect weekend trip, not too far down the parkway so you won't be sitting with sand in your skivvies for too long. The nightlife is quite a scene too- so if sun and sand are not your thing, head over to The Avenue for a cocktail or two and drink to the unofficial start of the Summer!

Thank you Summer!

Memorial Day weekend is the beginning of a lot of things: Vacations for some, the ability to wear white for others (though I am not a fan of that rule) but I digress... It's grilling time, swimsuit time, cocktails on the patio time...whatever you feel like time...

Hello and thank you, Summer!

The little things...

It's the little things that make me happy. I was under the weather for a few days so to cheer myself up I brought out some old faithfuls and also bought some new goodies to make me feel better. There's nothing like a little sparkle to make your day...or your night.  I am ready to make up for my down time! These are the goodies I will need:

Manolos - they make for a magical night-
no matter where you go

A cheery wine stopper to put a cork in a fabulous night
This one is pretty cute too: http://rstyle.me/hhdntymf3e

Hair clips and bows to make a girl feel extra girly

A little Bling never hurt anybody

And finally....
Cupcake flavored goldfish-for when I'm looking
for a treat to hold me over till reservations time... (wink wink)

till our next encounter...

Inspiration: {Nature's Keepsakes}

We can find inspiration in everything - I love incorporating beautiful things from the earth into my look. There is so much beauty out there... and so many ways to enjoy it. These pictures are of items I have that I bring out every so often. It's nice to highlight the special things that you have once in a while- show them a little love. Especially when they are from loved ones.

{Sailor/Stripes}

The nautical look is a favorite go-to for Spring and Summer.  Crisp whites, blue stripes, wide leg pants and anchor jewelry.  Doing them all at once would make for a theme party...but one or two pieces mixed into a classic ensemble...and you have magic.

These pictures with a little help from Pinterest served as inspiration for me.  Anchors away!

Vintage Me

I came across more childhood pictures. I laugh when I see these... A fashionista I was not - I definitely came into my own in high school. Until then I was all about Snoopy, Strawberry Shortcake and the Muppets. Oh how things change...

Insta-Sohl

If you are not on Instagram - you should be. It's one of my top fave apps on my IPhone and now I hear it belongs to Facebook? Soon everything will be owned by Facebook.

But I digress...Instagram is the coolest photo sharing app- some of the filters can make you look Gorje (I'm talking like turn back the clock) ahem...Hefe filter- I love you! You can make some funky pics with the 70's style filter and the Earlybird too.

Anyhoo- these are my latest pics. Follow me to see what else is going on in Sohl in the City land!

Till next time friends!

Mom, You Rock!

The 60s and 70s were an inspiring time. It was fun going through old pictures and seeing my mom as a young teen during those years. The clothes were memorable and so was the music. I still can hear my mom and my uncle jamming to The Beatles "She loves you yeah yeah yeah yeahhhhhh...."

That decade was influential - after all- I was named after a Beatle song... ;)

And there are so many styles we can take from this era...check out my Mom (she's fabulous) and my inspiration below...
