Adios August!

Well, it came and went.  August that is.  It was short and sweet.  Here we are on the brink of a new month, a new Fall, and hopefully new adventures.  I know what I've got up my you?

See you in September...

Day 27 {Sweat Shop}

The mornings and nights are getting cooler by the day (sniffle) and the only way I don't burst into tears is by wearing a cute sweatshirt.  It's the trend I'm in love with most. Why?  Well, partly because it's comfy and...well... that's mostly why.  What's better than looking chic and warm and cozy?  Throw a chunky jewel necklace on, a pair of jeans and some heels and you are good to go.  If you really want to lazy it up (like I do) I throw on some flat studded sandals and voila`- you are on trend and bonus- when you get home you can rip off everything else and throw on some sweatpants and you are couch ready.  It's a win-win.

I'm liking these particular sweats here- animal prints, cute spins on designer logos and catchy phrases- all you need.

Day 25 {Fall Is Closing In}

Where is the time going? I have mixed feelings about Fall being on Summer's heels.  I suppose Fall is my favorite season when it comes to clothes but when it comes to play - Summer is the one... (That's probably the case for most of us).  I guess there's nothing we can do but just roll with it now.  September will be here before we know it.  And along with that, cooler temps - which if you haven't noticed seem pretty anxious to greet us.  The mornings have that crisp cool feeling in the air like when as a kid, you knew the first day of school was coming.

The first true sign was when it felt good to open up the windows and let the fresh air in- no more stifling heat, the AC could take a break for a while.  It is what it is here in the NorthEast.  I guess I wouldn't have it any other way.  I'll take the ever changing seasons to be living in an ever changing area.  Where else can you go to the beach, the city and all that's in between in one weekend?

So If you haven't done, seen or heard what you wanted so far, well it's time - use your time wisely before the cold air blows in....(and then you'll need a cute sweater.)  Anyhoo- this is what I've been up to, what about you?

Dinner with friends at Red Farm...drinks are killer there

Bye Bye Highlights soon...and I feel like I just got them!

The only way a girl can get excited over Fall...prepping for it!

Enjoy your last few weeks of Summer!

Day 20- Qwiki

 So I finally got around to playing with some of the apps that I downloaded, like months ago.  Now that I started I am a little crackish on this Qwiki app.  Is anyone on this all the time like I am now? You can hone your movie making skills, I have to say, I am new at it- I haven't graduated to the big boys league world of movie making apps yet but I'm working on it.  Qwiki is foolproof, you choose your pictures and/or videos, arrange them how you like and pick a song.  They are short and sweet.  You have a limit to how long you can make it but that's what makes them so much fun.  They're like mini films about whatever you want.  You can also leave it private or public and share.
Just a warning- it's addictive. I've made like 5 already.

 Check out this one I whipped up.  It's about New York... of course.  Xoxo, Michelle

Day 18: Admiring the View

I had a lovely time catching up with 2 old friends - my girlfriend from way back when and my old stomping grounds. Ah yes, good old Weehawken New Jersey.   The best part of New Jersey to me, (closest to New York City without being in New York)! Killer views of the skyline, - the best place to watch fireworks is along the water in West New York.  Between Edgewater, North Bergen and Weehawken you have the most fabulous restaurants and most relaxing water views.  Yes, If you can't be at the shore the next best thing is the Hudson River.  Add a little Cuban food to that and you have the makings of a perfect night.

Day 15 {For Real Though}

So wrong and yet so right.  I succeeded in not daydreaming and online window shopping for about 3 days.  It was the longest I've gone in a while.  I tried to concentrate on more pressing matters and issues.  You know think about more serious stuff.  I failed. Why do we women have such a fascination with shoes? (Notice that I'm grouping all of us together - though I am pretty sure some of us are more obsessed than others.)

We don't dress for men, (not us married chicks especially), we sort of dress for other girls, (we love hearing that squeal- "Where did you get those??") but mostly we dress for ourselves.  I know I love looking down at my feet and seeing a beautifully crafted pair of shoes. Designer label or not (although it feels extra special when there is a red bottom underneath mine.)

But I digress... we as woman know what's most important in life.  However, every now and then we appreciate our right to shoes.

This t-shirt says it all...

Day 13: Skirting the Issue

Here we are mid month already.  I don't even remember where the days went.  I'm grateful though, my weekend was nice, so was the weather for the most part so it was a treat actually, I took Friday off and had three days of seeing some old friends, getting some much needed encouragement, and finding a little peace of mind.   I also had a lot of fun planning my outfits, all three days dresses, skirts and of course heels.  There is something about walking in big girl shoes that makes you feel so much taller.  Literally and figuratively.  And now that dresses and skirts of all lengths are in it's impossible to not find your perfect style.  Pencil, Midi, Maxi or A-Line.  Choose your weapon.  Either way you will look and feel like such a lady.

Have a great week!

Day 5: Prepping for The Getaway

The countdown is on for our little getaway.  Myrtle Beach is calling my name.  I know I'll be spending most of my time in a swimsuit, but I had to think of some other options to pack for those sightseeing outings/dinners/miniature know, typical South Carolina activities.  So along with a cute jumper that I am still on the hunt for, flip-flops, a few J.Crew tees, jeans and of course a bikini or two, I think my bag will compose of the following items:

oh yeah and some pjs...

till next time!

Days 3 & 4: Ciao August

Days 3 & 4 were a blur as most weekends for everyone are.  It was my first official weekend off since I quit my part time gig.  It felt nice to have more time to do what I pleased. I finally got my highlights!  I feel like I am catching up to Summer and looking a little sun kissed.  However,  this past weekend's weather  wasn't exactly beach friendly (of course)  so a trip to Whole Foods was first on my list, - the salad bar makes my day...hey it's the little things in life, you know?  Topped off with a delicious mocha chip gelato treat.  The hubby and I went for a stroll and had a nice dinner in North Jersey.  All in all, it was very relaxing which is what I needed. My books finally came in from my Amazon order but I'm having a hard time deciding which one to start first.  So I think I'm easing in with the smallest book first and making my way to the heftiest.  As of right now, the book is sitting on my nightstand, ready to get cracked open.  Hopefully this little read will make it to the beach with me soon!  Here's hoping for some steamy beach weather...

Day 2: Hola August

Day 1 although a bit rain soaked was still lovely.  I shared with you my plans last post and and all went according to plan thankfully.  I saw my grandmother and uncle, got some hugs and laughs in too (which was nice considering the situation).  My mom and I then went to our favorite spot- yes the mall, what we do best.  I came across the most darling top from White House/Black Market, a great new room spray that will take us into Fall perfectly especially when the nights get cooler.  I also splurged on a  Chanel foundation.  When I first tried it, I instantly loved it. A little dewey, a subtle glow and a beautiful finish.  I wouldn't wear it in really hot temps though, your shine factor will quadruple.  However for breezy Summer days and crisp Fall nights, the perfect look.  Well I'm getting Day 2 going (with a little highlight action- results coming soon) and in the midst of planning Day 3.  Happy Friday!

Bonjour August

Today marks the first official day of my "Take it easy" regimen.  I promised myself I would take the month of August to relax, catch up on some reading (I ordered 3 books from Amazon) and finally get to the beach.  Yes, it is August 1st and I have yet to go to the beach. Pity me.

 I am prioritizing though and making spending time with my family number 1.  With work being so crazy the last 8 months or so I feel that I have neglected them a little.  I am also taking each day to be thankful for something different each day, and to shut my mouth mid- complaint as soon as I hear it coming out.  Life is too short to be unhappy or stressed.  So for today - Day 1 of my relaxation journey I will be doing a little shopping with my mom, visiting my grandmother and getting in a good workout.... I feel better already.

Enjoy your day!
